Print-On-Demand Copies Available Outside U.S. on NewspaperDirect Network
NewspaperDirect, Inc., a leading innovator in out-of-market newspaper delivery, announced today that it will begin distributing outside of North America the daily edition of The New York Times later this month. The NewspaperDirect version of The Times will be laser-printed in the local market in a convenient A3 (11"×17") format, an exact replica of the printed edition of the newspaper, except for size.
"With its 88 Pulitzer Prizes and estimated daily audience of more than 3 million readers, The New York Times is a globally recognized newspaper," said Miljenko Horvat, President and CEO of NewspaperDirect. "We and our global network of License Partners welcome the opportunity to distribute this prestigious title and we expect global demand for the paper to be strong."
By utilizing its proprietary technology and the Internet, NewspaperDirect will deliver printed copies of The New York Times to its partners, which include many leading business hotels and resorts around the world. In turn, its partners will distribute The Times to decision makers outside North America well before they could be reached using traditional delivery methods. The NewspaperDirect edition will be available Monday through Saturday only and will be considered as paid circulation under Audit Bureau of Circulations rules.
"We are pleased to work with NewspaperDirect to deliver The New York Times outside North America," said Scott Heekin-Canedy, Senior Vice President, Circulation, The New York Times. "This initiative enhances our commitment to providing our readers, particularly the international business traveler, with The Times's quality journalism wherever and however they wish to access it."
